Over the past decade (2010-2020), containerized refrigerated cargo became a more significant throughput segment at many US ports, especially those on the US East Coast. Increases in domestic demand for fresh fruits and vegetables combined with larger containerships have brought greater loads of containers at a single port call.
While construction projects have expanded port capacity, there is still a never-ending need to keep perishable cargo connected to power. And when there is not enough ground power available, Power Pool Plus Power Packs provide the extra capacity. Our business has grown as a result.
Yet during the second half of this past decade, it became clear that Power Pool Plus would not properly meet the increased demand for our power solution products without a larger manufacturing facility.
In 2020 we celebrated our 30th year, providing power for the refrigerated transportation industry. We have now proudly found a place to accommodate the future growth of our many products and services. And that place is in Greenwood, South Carolina.
Officially, as of January 1st, 2021, our Greenwood location went online and operational – manufacturing our standard Power Pack and PortaPack production lines, plus all custom Power Pack designs and fabrications. This facility also serves as the Power Pool Plus Global Corporate Headquarters.
